Pete the Cat.. Caturday musings

Writer's picture: chanda hansenchanda hansen

What could he be thinking?

"Why isn't my mom holding me and petting me like normal?

Why did she bring another brother home? I mean he's cool, but sort of annoying..

Where is mom going when she leaves us?

Where is my sister.. I need cuddles.

Oh and I could really use treats..."

Do you ever look at someone and muse "what are they thinking?" Or "they look really sad.. happy.. angry.. hurt."

How many times did you ask them? A stranger you see with tears in their eyes or a little child that is smiling from ear to ear?

I'm guessing this number is very low. I can tell you I do this. Sometimes people don't want to talk. Sometimes you end up talking for 30 minutes. Other times it's a prayer when your Doordash driver shows up, sitting in front of your house, your food getting cold and she's sobbing.. straight up sobbing so hard she can't talk. You calm them down, because we've all been there. You're alone and so sad or hurt and you really wish there was someone that could understand.

I challenge you. Anyone reading this.. be better. Offer a smile if you don't like to speak to strangers. A simple "you good today?" You never know who needs a stranger to be a friend. You could quite literally save someone's life.

Go forth and be brave. Think deep like Pete the Cat and love always. ❤️
